I’m really excited to present this visualization. I’ve always wondered if there were any common themes in the Grimm Fairy Tales, and this is one of the easiest ways to show it. I find both the single word and double word visualizations extremely telling. So far, as I hypothesized, that King would be the most frequent word in the single word view and that ’King’s daughter’ is the most frequent in the two word view. I thought that princess would be higher, but it looks like princesses were more commonly identified as King’s daughters. When one looks at the single-word view, I’m struck by how much the most popular words are basic Jungian archetypes: King, Woman, Daughter, Father, Maiden, etc. And to be further Jungian, some of the non-person nouns: Forest, House/Home, Time, Thought, etc, are very Jungian constructs as well. I’m sure a data set without the appendix of the Christian Legends would produce a different result. I’ll post a second data set without the Christian Legends next. michael pastor |
