<title>Comment on VisualizationPost '1. What is the optimal number of bubbles for a bubble...'</title>

<summary type="html">1. What is the optimal number of bubbles for a bubble chart? 20, 50 or even 100? Showing 344 bubbles is probably too many in this case.
I think it depends on the data - when there is more variation in the size of bubbles, we can show more bubbles.
In these cases the relative size and characteristics of the large bubbles may be more important than the characteristics of the small bubbles.

2. It's neat that we can base the color on different label columns.

3. I prepared the data by extracting the list of 344 movies that have grossed over $200,000,000 world-wide (not adjusted for inflation).
This was then converted into 'Tickets Sold' by dividing the gross amount into the average ticket price (in US$) for the year in which the movie was released.
With this method, movies from earlier decades are under-represented.
From a glance it seems that there are more blockbusters in the 2000s that in the 1990s and 1980s - I do not know if that is true.
